RITCHIE Lutherans In Watauga Join In Program Of Evangelism Lutherans in Watauga Coun ty will join a synod-wide pro gram of Evangelism Missions beginning Wednesday, Oct. 23, and concluding Sunday, Oct. 27. The congregations of Bethany, Grace and Holy Communion Lutheran churches will hold separate but similar missions using the theme, Christian Liv ing In A Changing World. During that week the five ser vices at Bethany will be con ducted by the Rev. Richard B. Dorton, pastor of St. Enoch Lutheran Church in Kannapolis. The Rev. Hoke H. Ritchie of Grace Lutheran Church, Thomasville, will preach at Grace and the Rev. Harold L. McSwain of Luther’s Lutheran Church, Richfield, will be guest missioner at the Holy Com munion Lutheran Church. Visitors are welcome to participate in any of the ser vices, which are designed to foster better understanding of Christian living in a changing Pastor Dorton is a native of Concord who graduated from Lenoir Rhyne College in 1951 and from Lutheran Theological Southern Seminary in 1954. He served as pastor of the Friend ship Lutheran Church, Taylors ville, for 11 years before going to his present parish at Kanna polis. He is vice-president of the Cabarrus County Ministerial Association and president of the Enochville Ministerial Fel lowship. While attending Lenoir Rhyne, he served as supply pastor at Bethany Lutheran in Watauga County. Married to Mary Hardy, he is the father of two children.
